Toast.
A brief nonblocking confirmation message.
See it in context
What it is
A toast confirms an event without interrupting the current task. Keep it short, avoid critical information that disappears, and ensure any automatic dismissal still gives people enough time to understand it.
When to use it
Use for lightweight confirmation of a completed action.
Know the difference
A toast is a generic transient message; a Material snackbar may include an action such as Undo.
Across platforms
iOS · iPadOS · macOS · visionOS
Use the native platform presentation and terminology; adapt density and interaction to touch, pointer, remote, or spatial input rather than copying a phone-sized view.
Web · Android · Windows · Linux
On the web, announce meaningful status changes without moving focus. On Android and desktop, keep messages near the relevant operation and follow the platform’s notification conventions.
