A list emphasizes scanning and sequence. Rows can contain a leading image or icon, a title, supporting text, and a trailing value, but should preserve a consistent reading order.

When to use it

Use when users compare names or scan many similar records.

Know the difference

A list is row-oriented; a collection view may distribute items across several columns.

Use the native platform presentation and terminology; adapt density and interaction to touch, pointer, remote, or spatial input rather than copying a phone-sized view.

Use semantic content structures on the web. Touch, pointer, and remote layouts need different target spacing even when the same information is shown.
