What it is
A table expresses relationships between row and column headings. It is particularly useful when people compare the same attributes across records; meaningful headers matter more than decorative grid lines.
When to use it
Use for comparing structured records.
Know the difference
A semantic table displays information; an interactive data grid also supports cell-level navigation or editing.
Across platforms
iOS · iPadOS · macOS · visionOS
Use the native platform presentation and terminology; adapt density and interaction to touch, pointer, remote, or spatial input rather than copying a phone-sized view.
Web · Android · Windows · Linux
Use semantic content structures on the web. Touch, pointer, and remote layouts need different target spacing even when the same information is shown.
