What it is
A bar chart maps numerical magnitude to a shared baseline. It is effective for comparing discrete categories when their labels and units remain easy to scan.
When to use it
Use for comparing categories or ranked values.
Know the difference
A bar chart compares separate values; a histogram groups a continuous distribution into bins.
