What it is
A system region that communicates device state such as time, connectivity, and battery. Keep app content clear of essential system indicators unless using a deliberate edge-to-edge layout.
When to use it
Use the term for the device-state strip at the screen edge.
Know the difference
A system status bar reports device state; an app toolbar contains actions for current content.
