UI illustration

Numeric entry supports exact values and may provide increment controls. It suits quantities that have arithmetic meaning, rather than digit strings such as postal codes.

When to use it

Show units and enforce meaningful minimum, maximum, and step values.

Know the difference

A telephone number or identifier is a string of digits, not an arithmetic quantity.
