Edit details

Keep this task focused, then return to your previous screen.

A modal sheet presents a self-contained task while retaining a visual relationship with the screen beneath it. It commonly provides Done or Cancel actions and should preserve unfinished work appropriately.

When to use it

Use for a focused edit or creation task.

Know the difference

A bottom sheet is defined by its edge; a modal sheet is defined by its presentation and blocking behavior.

Apple platforms commonly use native sheet presentation. On a compact iPhone it may cover most of the screen; iPad and Mac presentations can retain more surrounding context.

Web · Android · Windows · Linux

On the web, manage keyboard focus and dismissal explicitly. Android and desktop implementations should use the equivalent native surface when available.
